Passage

John 18:33-37

"The reign of God turns out to be one not of domination and force, but of great tenderness and fragility.  Once we confront that, we may see that the reign of Christ is terribly, frightening close. Our struggle to understand how it is that Christ reigns is the inner struggle we have to believe that the tender beckoning of God within us can be powerful. If you are like me, you may have been secretly hoping all along that somehow that inner tenderness would go away, that the reign of God will be taken outside my heart and shown, finally, to be something hard, and touchable, that the reign of God will be revealed, seen, as objectively true.  Instead, it turn out that God rules through that tender, inner struggle, and that the power of that  tenderness which is both ours and God's is, finally, irresistible."
